WABAG reinforces its position in the Global Desalination market, by
securing a DBO order towards executing South East Asia’s largest Sea Water
Desalination plant from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The
400 MLD Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Project will be executed under the leadership
of WABAG in joint venture with Metito Overseas Limited.
This scope includes the Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of the desalination plant and the associated seawater intake system, followed by 20 years of operation and maintenance. The plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies like Lamella Clarifiers, Dissolved Air Flotation System, Gravity Dual Media Filters followed by Reverse Osmosis and Re-mineralization to produce clean drinking water.
This project will make Chennai, the
Desalination Capital of India with almost 750 MLD of Desalinated water to be
produced along the coast of Chennai and WABAG will contribute over 500 million
liters of desalinated water every day of the total desalination capacity with
successful commissioning of the plant. This order reinforces our technological
superiority and competitiveness in the global desalination industry, and is a
testament to our leadership. It puts WABAG on a path of continued growth and
success in the future.
WABAG is grateful to Govt. of Tamil Nadu,
CMWSSB and JICA for reposing their trust once again on WABAG for ensuring water
security for Chennai.
